Old Business.
a. OSU update – Linda and Mr. Wenman - students will be released from class early at 1:55 and they will leave at 2:15, their luggage needs to be left at the school in the morning. Ray will send out an email to OSU families explaining this change in departure time.
a. Mr. Wenman will check with the office to see if we borrow lanyards for the students
b. Some room switching is necessary, Linda will arrange and communicate as needed
c. Itinerary change – Friday night we’ll watch a free concert “US Military Band of the West”
b. List of sixth graders for 2010 – Tom will gather this list and send information about the music program and MB to the elementary schools for the Thursday packets
c. TFMS PTSA – Linda – the TFMS administrators have expressed a desire to see the ASB, PTSA and MB working more closely together next year and have less of a completitive feeling when it comes to fund raising
a. Tom suggested that Mr. Wenman appoint student leadership from both band and choir to represent the music program at the ASB meetings.
b. MB also needs a PTSA liason and an event planner for next year, Linda is doing it this year but the need was realized only 1 or 2 months ago
d. May meeting and nominations – Tom will include information in the Thursday packets about the MB nominating board members
a. Ray will send out an email about the nominations
b. The bylaws state that the new board will start in October of 2009-2010, concern was shared about this. Some feel that the new board being nominated and voted in at the end of the year would give the board a great chance of setting up for success. Upcoming events
Final Concert, Saturday, June 13th 7:00 pm
Lead: Ramona Haskin
Raffle: Tom, more parents are needed to find raffle items
It will not be on a Saturday night again. The date has already been changed 2-3 times so it can’t be changed again.
Vision, this is an event, not just a concert. It will be held in the commons and it will be table seating. There will be an admission charge, the music will be recognizable, there wil be a variety of genres, a variety of desserts will be served, possibly by Key Club students. There will be a raffle prize to conduct one of the closing songs. Mr. Wenman understands that a Saturday night is difficult for some students and he will be understanding if they can’t make it.
Suggestions were: use an Evite which would give an idea of how many to expect
